Well, this post originally started out being about Andrea. See, this morning she left for the hospital after getting Evan onto the school bus. I anticipated writing about sending her well wishes and luck in the birth of her new little man (name to be revealed later).
Here they are. The vitals everyone wants to know! He weighed over 8 pounds, is 22 inches long and his name is Declan! Love the name!!
So, as I'm writing this message pops up on Twitter the same time my Facebook page alerts me to something as well. Being the super nosey person I am I stopped to look.
Guess what?? He's here!! Really! Talk about a short labor! Wow! Yet again, he IS number 4, so they do tend to be shorter labor times.
That being said, a huge Congratulations to both Andrea and Tom on the birth of their new little boy! Such a blessing and miracle all rolled into one!
ps. I will post the stats and such as I receive the information. Congrats Andrea, love you all very much and I hope Evan has the best day ever now that he has the little brother he's been asking for!!!!

What Happened Wednesday: Conversations with a 2 year old
posted by Kandi
I actually wrote this yesterday...December 1, just for a time reference.
This afternoon I was checking my email and responding to things after a long morning. The kids were either napping or in the playroom playing. Suddenly, Courtney comes up the stairs and starts a conversation with me. Here is a small excerpt of it.
Me: Hi Court Court.
Her: Hi Mommee
Me: Whatcha doing?
Her: Want 'nack (snack)
Me: It's not snack time baby, it's almost time for supper.
Her: want sips.
Me: you want your sippy cup?
Her: want sips
Me: huh? what are sips Courtney? (here she points to the counter where Chuck had left out the bag of chips from lunch)
Me: Oh, you want CHIPS?
Her: Yesh, preeze
Me: No, baby. No chips.
Her: want butta (aka Peanut Butter)
Me: No Court, no peanut butter either
Her: But Mommee, I wike the butta.
Yes, I realize it's not THAT entertaining of a post. That said, this a typical conversation between the two of us. I remember when I wondered if this little girl would ever talk! She said barely 3 words by 18 months and I was beginning to think she never would talk. Then one day, she opens her mouth and said a 3 word sentence. I guess she was just waiting for a time to say something. Now she chats, holds pretty good conversations (for a 2 year old...haha), and LOVES to sing!! That's my girl!

Did you get the memo that it was OK to touch my baby.
Did you get the memo that it was OK to touch my baby. Yeah neither did I.
So on Thursday I had to take Paisley to get her eyes checked since she has that blocked tear duct (yup snot coming out her eyes bad.) So they dilated her eyes because lazy eye and vision problems tend to follow along with blocked tear ducts. I had a few errands to run while I was at that end of town and I headed to Sams club (really I was down 1 kid and it is much easier to shop with 2 than 3.) I covered Paisley's pumpkin seat with the blanket. (you know you have the visor up and the carrier part up and drape the blanket so you can't see anything inside of it) Due to the light from outside and inside hurting her eyes. While I was in line this lady had the nerve to come up and take the blanket off of my baby. I stood there in shock while I watched her touch my babies face and tickle her feet. After a minuet of watching in horror. I said something. I asked if I could help her. She replies no I just love babies. I then tell her that I had her covered up due to it hurting her eyes because she had just had them dilated (why am I explaining my reasoning to a stranger) She then goes OH she is fine. WTF are you serious. I tell her not to touch my baby. She got really pissy like I am the one in the wrong. I don't know where her hands have been, I don't know if she washed her hands after going to the bathroom, I don't know if she has some kind of disease, I don't know if she is sick. Most of all I DON'T KNOW YOU.
Seriously when did it become OK to just walk up and touch a strangers child, when did it become OK to remove a blanket. When did it become OK for a person to tell ME that MY child is OK. People really have some nerve. I will never understand why people think they can take things upon them self.
Isn't there an unspoken rule of #1 don't touch something that isn't YOURS. #2 if there is a blanket covering a child there is a reason. (maybe they are sick, maybe they are an infant. maybe you don't want STRANGERS TOUCHING THEM.) Seriously people come on. DONT TOUCH A CHILD THAT ISN'T YOURS.
DO I really need to put this on my pumpkin seat. Maybe I do. Since common sense is lacking with people.

My baby is learning words...
posted by Kandi
Courtney is learning words. To be more specific, she is learning more words. She has been speaking jibberish for quite some time. I'll be honest, it was very frustrating for a while. Audrey was speaking before 15 months and Ren took to it very soon after his ear surgery. Courtney is another character altogether though. She always has been. My Grammy (who had 4 kids in 4 years) told me that the third for her learned things a bit slower than her first two. I remember saying "how can that be? She should've learned from her big sisters." Grammy assured me that it isn't a big deal because those "big" siblings also spoke a lot for #3 therefore she didn't need to speak. "Ah ha" I thought. Well that WON'T happen to mine. Boy was I wrong! She is learning and growing according to schedule, but speaking real words has been coming slower than the other two.
Now, that being said, Courtney's newest accomplishment is body parts. Not the usual nose, eyes, ears. Nope, not her. She is learning fingers, toes, knees and now thanks to her loving brother and sister, personal anatomy. We aren't shy about things such as this. We also teach our kids the proper words for body parts. If that embarrasses you, you might want to stop reading here...
Onto the funny part. Tonight Courtney has been fighting sleep. She recently moved into her toddler bed and is loving the fact that she can get up and move around. Well, on about the third time of tucking her in tonight, I decided I'd rub her hair. It's worked before, so why not. Midway through rubbing her hair, she reaches over and touches my arm. I'm thinking "aww, she still likes this". Well, she might still like it, but what happened next REALLY caught me off guard. She reached over and pinched my boob. Yup, pinched...hard! Then in her little toddler voice says "Mommy booby". I smiled through the pain and said "yes, that's Mommy's breast but we don't touch other people there". She smiled, rolled over and closed her eyes.
Why do I have the feeling that she did it to get back at me for making her go to bed? Has anyone else had an issue with personal body parts and their kids? Please, if you are so inclined, share...that way I don't feel like a huge dork!!
